Nut Butter Apple is a great snack to have to keep you going throughout the day. The apple provides a great source of non-starchy carbohydrate and various vitamins and minerals while the nut butter provides some healthy fats and protein.
Nutbutter is a great vegetarian source of healthy fats and protein and combined with fruit, a non-starchy carbohydrate it makes a great low GI snack. In this recipe we used an apple and mixed peanut and almond butter but you can use whichever whole fruit and nutbutter you prefer. The high fibre of the apple and satiating protein and fat from the nutbutter together help to provide the feeling fullness which is great for non-training days. This quick snack could also be used as an easy desert or a dairy free addition to a training day breakfast.
– 1 apple
– 2 Tbsp. Nut butter (almond, peanut, hazelnut, cashew etc.)
- Cut apple in to slices.
- Spread each with a generous serving of nut butter.
