Mulled wine is the classic Christmas drink! If you are having friends over for Christmas this is a great recipe to welcome them. It’s rich in fruity flavours and festive spices like cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. In this recipe we didn’t add any sugar but if you are looking for a sweeter version just add some honey when heating.

Ingredients

– 1 bottle of red wine
– 120 g pitted cherries
– 130 g blackberries
– 100 g blueberries
– 1 pomegranate
– 2 plums
– 2 oranges
– 1 star anise
– 1 cinnamon stick
– 4 cloves
– 1 thump sized piece of ginger
– Pinch of nutmeg
– 2 tsp. honey

Preparation

1. Pour the wine into a saucepan and place on a low heat
2. Firstly, chop then add 1 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick, 4 cloves and a pinch of nutmeg to the wine
3. While the mix heats juice the cherries, black berries, cranberries, pomegranate, plums, orange
4. Add the juice to the wine and the spices and leave to infuse for about 10 minutes and then turn off the heat and allow to cool
